On January 19, 2007 in the center of Istanbul was murdered Hrant Dink — a famous journalist and public figure, an editor of the Armenian newspaper «Agos» in Turkey.
At that time (January 2007), Mr. Sergey Madatyan was the only person who flew to Turkey to the funeral from the Armenian community of Russia. S.A. Madatyan is a major general, an ataman of the International Armenian Cossack Association (IACS). This Cossack ataman in his Cossack generals uniform (although it was rather risky) specially arrived in Istanbul to attend the funeral of Hrant Dink and for the posthumous award of an Order.
S.A. Madatyan handed it over to the widow Rahil and to Arat, the son of Hrant Dink the Order of Honor and Loyalty named by the hero of the Patriotic War of 1812, Lieutenant-General, Prince Valerian Madatov.
This was reported by the media in 2007: Yerkramas, Novosti-Armenia, Hayinfo and others.
Below are the photos from the personal archive of S.A. Madatyan, who had kindly provided them to the «Armenian Comradeship».
