From: Bakour Karapetyan (Republic of Artsakh | Nahorno-Karabakh Republic)
To: US President Mr. Donald Trump
Dear Mr. President,
We address you concerning the request of the Iranian Azerbaijan and the Turkish Azerbaijan.
Turkey has long cherished the desire to recover its empire and expand to the East on which way the Turks do feel interfered by Iran, the Republic of Armenia and The Republic of Artsakh. The Union of the Iranian Azerbaijan and the Turkish Azerbaijan will open Turkey the possibility to expand towards east. Therefore, we just need to remember Aliyev’s and Erdogan’s call for «One nation, two states!
In Tabriz, the Azerbaijanis already try to restore the Turkish Empire also with the help of the United States. We all know very well what the Ottoman Empire meant for humanity. Coming from the Mountains of Altai and appearing on the territory of old Byzantium the Turks erased more than fifty indigenous peoples. That destruction series resulted into Genocide of the Armenians, Assyrians and Pontic Greeks in the beginning of the 20th century. These days the Turkish establishment feels encouraged by the United States to recover the Ottoman Empire, which will be a major disaster for human civilization.
Azerbaijan itself is in the north of Iran and in the south of the Arax River. Once it was an ancient and neighboring region and was called “Atrpatakan”, which literary means “the place of fire”. As the Arabs conquered Atrpatakan, they renamed it in accordance with its ancient meaning. There lived Medes, Armenians, Persians and Kurds. In the half of the 13th century Genghis Khan’s grandson Gulag transferred two hundred thousand nomadic tribes through the desert of Central Asia, who began inhabiting that region of Azerbaijan. During centuries, they mingled with the local population.
Shah Sefevi’s dynasty sat on the throne of the Shah of Iran, which does not mean that Iran has turned into Azerbaijani authority. It’s comparable with that fact that Armenians reigned for 300 years in Byzantine, which does neither mean that the Byzantine Empire was Armenian. The Safavids were Turks worst enemies and fought against them. Azerbaijanis are ethnically considered as Iranians. Their language is partly related to Iranian languages.
Aran, which belonged to Armenia, was located north of the Arax River and was divided into the regions of Artsakh, Utik and Paytakaran. In 18th century there came Tatars, Kurds and other
Central Asian nomads inhabiting those regions. They were generally called as «Muslims». In history Azerbaijan’s name appears when Turkish troops came there to set up a new country for the first time in 1918. Later in 1935 Joseph Stalin first used the term “Azeri” to name those people. Azeri consider themselves as Turks. The Republic of Azerbaijan is home to several indigenous peoples, whose countries have been separated to the Russian Republic of Dagestan or the new Republic of Azerbaijan. The Talysh people for example are spread over Azerbaijan and Iran. The Armenians have a similar Problem trying to defend their motherland and liberate Artsakh from the tyranny of Baku.
Two historical regions of Armenia, so called Nagorno-Karabakh, which we call Artsakh and Nakhichevan were annexed to the new Republic of Azerbaijan by Lenin, Stalin and Ataturk. In 1988 Artsakh Armenians rebelled, fought against Baku and won a brutal war.
We Armenians could liberate only a part of our historical lands, which we have not succeeded in Northern Artsakh, what caused Azerbaijani authorities to deport the Armenians from those regions and to empty them from us.
Dear Mr. President,
Would it be right to ignore the rights of indigenous peoples living in the Republic Azerbaijan, to annex them again and again and make lawlessness normality?
The Turks set goal is to open a door to Central Asia and the Altai, which is their ancestral home, with the help of the Iranian Azerbaijan and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Therefore in 1920 to prevent such expansion President Woodrow Wilson drew the line between Armenia and Turkey, which was confirmed juridical on 22nd of November of the same year. The only way to prevent Turkey’s eastward expansion and a new civilizational disaster is to establish the state of Western Armenia in the east and to create a Kurdish state in the south east of today’s Turkey.
