Armenia and Artsakh are locked in life or death struggle with Turks. War with Azeri Turks is ongoing. In this epic struggle Armenians must learn to exploit any Turkish vulnerability. Fortunately, — several such vulnerabilities, which can help to bring about their eventual destruction and demise — do exist. Unfortunately, Armenians are very slow, weak, disunited and not focused on using many of such weaknesses.
One of such important vulnerabilities lies in the fact of the existence and grievances of so called autochthonous (non-Turkic) nations, tribes and communities inside Azerbaijan. These autochthonous peoples (by some estimates up to 40% of the population of Azerbaijan) suffer a great deal of cultural, social and political repression from the Turkish (along with Turkified -Kurdish) majority of Azerbaijan. Since the collapse of Soviet Union, the struggle of Azerbaijani Autochthonous communities has manifested in tensions and disturbances among Lezgians, Avars, Tats, Shirvani — Parsis, Talysh, Udins and others. Talyshis, who are Iranian-speaking and secular-Shia people populating Southern Caspian shores and mountains along the coastline, — they are perhaps the most populous, organized and well self-identified nations among autochthons. Being tired of Turkish blatant assimilation attempts, Talysh people have risen and proclaimed in the early 1990-es their independent short lived so called Talysh-Mughan Republic.
Armenian State, that supposed to be the first to respond to a plea for help from the Talysh people, hardly exerts any activity. There is no proactive policy and any action plans that would have been aimed not only to addressing a human rights issue, but also and at the same time empowering our strategic asset inside that enemy-country at the time of war. But, as it happens from time to time – where state is inactive, United Armenian People and Spyurk can step in.
We can start from something tangible and little. For example, there is a Talyshistani patriot, great friend of Armenian people, one of the leaders of the Talysh liberation and awakening movement, scholar, and intellectual, the author of the first complete Dictionary of Talysh Language – Fahraddin Aboszoda. After being persecuted in Azerbaijan he escaped his country for Russia, where he resided for over then 10 years. All these years Azerbaijani regime tried to have him extradited to Baku for the inevitable suffering and punishment. It is just in February of this year 2019 that Azeris finally succeeded by the use of their “caviar-diplomacy”. Azeri dictators bribed few corrupt Russian police and judicial officials and orchestrated illegal deportation to Azerbaijan under some fake pretext. Dr. Aboszoda remains in Baku’s Security (former KGB) prison since, with no access by the independent lawyers or public, and every day facing possibility of torture and mistreatment. It is that only several private Armenians who are working on his case. Such as 2 Armenian Attorneys in Russia, who fought in Russian courts and won the case on illegality of his deportation. But unfortunately, this is not enough for earning his freedom.
Fahraddin Aboszoda’s case presents an opportunity for Armenians to demonstrate our high spirit and at the same time remarkably advance our strategic interest. If we can help to free Aboszoda – this will be a powerful signal to all the oppressed nations within the despotic Turkish Azerbaijan, that Armenians are the friends of freedom and carriers of highest humanitarian standards and values. The freedom-movement among Talysh people will be reinvigorated. Azerbaijan will be distracted and weakened.
Much things can be done to this end. Letters and petitions can be circulated. Local politicians and representatives enquired and pressed to action. Information to be propagated. Azeri consulates can be picketed.
FREEDOM FOR FAHRADDIN ABOSZODA!
